It's nothing to write home about

The title line: "how's this then?" seems like the response to a challenge (Diablo 3 Gold). Is it? Maybe I missed something from a previous post.

I don't get the color. It's far too green to be imitation sepia.

Yeah, Spanish moss can be a great subject, but this has that lazy look, like you stopped on the path and shot from eye level with whatever lens happened to be on the camera. Maybe you put more effort into it than that, but it's not obvious.

While not a true bulls-eye, it shares some of the bad properties of a bulls-eye in that it has big areas that don't add much.

As I look around the frame I see small areas that might have been good to pursue. That leafy vertical branch (near dead center) with the hanging moss as its background had a chance if you'd have walked a lot closer and somehow tamed the digital blowout (Diablo 3 Gold).

It's a great spot and at that time of day there appears to be an interesting combination of reflected light and translucence. Like most scenes with interesting light, it's going to challenge the capabilities of the equipment and materials used.

because I didn't have much good to say but maybe I should.

I do love the potential of the shot, the location is sublime (Diablo 3 Gold). Your angle is great and your subject is great but this is so drowned out by really bad pixelation, heavy handed contrast and coloring.

Too much detail is lost, the darks are too crushed, and the color choice retracts from the image to me.

If i ever color or adjust a shot to that extreme, I usually sit on it for a day, come back the next day and look at it very objectively and ask, "did I make the shot better or worse?" See it with new eyes and often you will want to dial it down a bit or go a different direction with it. Usually the first attempts of mine are too heavy handed, the saying is often true, less is more.
